Webinars are free for Texas PRIMA members. Must be a current member of Texas PRIMA to register.

Our first Risk Management 101 session is an introduction to Workers’ Compensation (WC), which will include many of the concepts newcomers will encounter, such as Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI); compensation types, eligibility for each and more. You’ll learn some common concerns expressed by injured employees and what to expect from the utilization review process. Finally, a basic overview of the dispute resolution process will be covered. The purpose of the presentation is to increase knowledge of WC and to encourage constant communication during the claim process to ensure the injured employee receives excellent service which, in turn, helps control claim costs.

Risk Management 101 sessions include an hour of instruction followed by 30 minutes of interactive Q&A and scenario games.

This class has been approved for one hour of continuing education credit through the Texas Department of Insurance.

Speaker:

Eddie Hernandez currently serves as Vice President of Operations at AS&G Claims Administration, Inc. He began his career handling auto liability and general liability claims with carriers like Progressive Insurance Company. He transitioned to the University of Texas System handling Workers’ Compensation claims in 2012, later moving on to Texas Mutual Insurance Company. What he found most appealing initially was the chance to have weekends off but workers’ compensation eventually would become his passion.

Eddie took every opportunity to learn as much as possible about the Texas Labor Code, administrative rules in the Act and compliance. He had the opportunity to work with many insureds in many industries, which eventually led to him making the transition to a training and supervisory role at AS&G in 2015. He has built strong working relationships and friendships with experts like Brandi Prejean, Ricky Green and Bobby Stokes, to name a few. He now oversees Third Party Administrator operations and serves as a resource for compliance-related questions on liability and workers’ compensation matters.
