This interactive 2.5-hour workshop will introduce the essential components of risk transfer, explain the purpose and mechanics of shifting risk through contracts and insurance, and connect those principles to real-world scenarios.

Participants will complete required pre-work involving a practical scenario designed to build “muscle memory” for evaluating and transferring liability. During the workshop, attendees will share their analyses, and David will walk through entity-specific considerations to strengthen your approach to risk transfer.

Topics include:

  • Certificates of insurance (COIs)
  • Common contract clauses
  • Indemnification and hold harmless language
  • Pitfalls public entities frequently encounter
  • Strategies for collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
